Persons
wishing to apply for housing assistance
should visit our offices at 345 North
Market St., Wooster, Ohio or phone
us at 330-264-2727 for more information.
Applications are accepted Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Thursday, 9:00am to
11:00am and 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
Applicants
will be required to provide the following
documents at the time of application
or applications cannot be accepted:

Birth Certificates for ALL family
members
· Social Security cards for
ALL family members
· Declaration of Citizenship
Form (provided with application) for
ALL family members
· DD214 (Military Discharge
Form if applicable)
Waiting list preferences for the Public Housing Program
The Public Housing Program utilizes only two preferences that allow for those persons or families to be assisted first. Those preference categories are as follows:
- Veterans and Servicemen, including
families of deceased veterans and
servicemen, as required ooby
Ohio Revised Code 3735.42.
- Persons eligible for an Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver, as defined in Ohio Revised Code 5111.891, or as may be subsequently determined by law.
Waiting list preferences for the Section
8 Housing Choice Voucher Program:
The
Housing Choice Voucher Program utilizes
six priority preferences that allow
for the most needy families living in Wayne County to be
assisted first. Those preference categories
are as follows:
- Families that reside in the jurisdiction at the time of application or have a family member employed here

Involuntarily Displaced
- Currently living in substandard
housing (including homeless families)
- Currently paying more than 50% of
their income for rent and utilities
- Veterans and Servicemen, including
families of deceased veterans and
servicemen, as required ooby Ohio Revised Code 3735.42.
- Families of federally declared disasters providing they were already receiving assistance in the jurisdiction where the disaster occurred.
Applicants
are placed on the waiting list according
to date and time of application and
priority/preference status.
Wayne Metropolitan Housing does not
administer emergency
housing programs.
